Making sure you choose the right storage provider for you and your company is key to your success. Cloud storage can make your workforce more efficient and productive, while backing up and securing your valuable data. If you have a business and aren’t using cloud storage, it’s time to start. We’ll discuss the benefits of server-owned solutions later in this post. Some providers use a trusted third-party hosting company like Google. Clouds are typically managed and owned by hosting companies referred to here as providers. The cloud itself is not in the sky, but rather in physical locations throughout the world stored on multiple secure servers. You contract a designated amount of space (for some paid services, that means unlimited space), upload files that are storing your data, and they’re seamlessly transferred to the cloud. Think of the cloud as a virtual flash drive. If you’ve ever uploaded a photo to a social network, used a smartphone with data backed up, or accessed Google Drive or Dropbox, you’ve been an active participant. Many, if not all of you, are cloud computing on a regular basis.
